1 results foundAuthor: Garcia, Ana Isabel Title: Costa Rica: Female Labour Migrants and Trafficking in Women and Children Summary: This paper presents an overview of the situation of female migrant labourers and reviews the legislative framework, government policy and private initiatives to protect their rights in Costa Rica. The paper aims at assisting and enhancing the efforts of government agencies, workers’ and employers’ organizations, non-governmental organizations and civil society groups in sending, transit and destination countries to protect the human rights of women migrant workers in the different stages of the migration process. The focus is on the situation of the women migrant workers in their families, workplaces, communities and societies in sending and receiving countries and also on the initiatives, policies and programmes, “good” and “bad” practices implemented by government, private recruitment and employment agencies and a wide range of social actors to assist and protect women migrants against exploitation and abuse and to prevent them from being trafficked.
