The Centre for Youth & Criminal Justice (CYCJ) was invited to undertake research to look at the pathways of young men under 18 currently in custody as identified in the action plan of the Reintegration & Transition Champions Group. This report draws together the findings of a review of mainly prison psychology files, along with some social work reports, for a total of 125 young men. These young men were aged 16 to 17 at the time of entering HMYOI Polmont during the year prior to data collection (October 2012 to September 2013) and semi-structured interviews were carried out with 11 young men who were serving sentences at the time of the data collection.
