There have been significant changes aimed at building a more consistent approach to young offenders, including the creation of the Joint Youth Justice Unit in 2007. The aim of the Network was not to undermine these important steps; our objective was to explore ways in which this quiet evolution could be celebrated and built upon in the context of prison overcrowding. The Learning Prison aims to reflect the views and experiences of the people involved including the discussions we held with prisoners.
